LIGHT SYSTEM QUESTIONS
Q: What type of light would best fit my needs?
A: The type of light that a rider would need depends on the type of riding he/she does as well as the amount of functions desired. Cygolite products are used on a see or be seen basis, or a combination of both. Cygolite headunits range from super bright and multifunctional trail riding lights to your everyday commuter lights and everything in between for all types of riders. We also offer a rechargeable, super bright tail light as a perfect complement our headunits.
Since riders that ride on technical terrain need as much light as possible, we recommend the Centauri, Trion, or the TridenX series for this type of riding. The Centauri and TridenX have wider beam patterns and more light output, which allows riders to see everything in the periphery as well as downtrail. The Trion series is ideal for technical road riders where a triple-concentrated distant throw beam is most desirable.
Riders that ride intermediate trails or commute heavily would need the best combination of brightness and run time. For this type of riding, we recommend the Trion or MityCross series are generous enough in light output but allow for longer run times, versatility, and affordability. We are also introducing the TurboJet series, which caters to those riders on a budget that are interested in high output system but do not necessarily want all the features of our Premier OSP Series.
Riders that are just getting into night riding or need a daily commuting light would benefit most from our lower-budget ExpiliOn series and Turbo Mini models which give the rider room to upgrade their headunit as he/she becomes a more experienced cyclist.
Q: If I have an older Cygolite light with halogen bulbs, can I upgrade the headlight to LEDs?
A: No, due to the different power requirements and design of the headlights, older halogen or HID headlights cannot be modified to use LEDs.
Q: If I have an older Cygolite LED light, can I upgrade the headlight to the newer brighter LEDs?
A: Cygolite will offer LED light upgrades for the older DualCross systems only. To upgrade your light, contact Cygolite customer service.
Q: What are your brightest lights?
A: The Centauri, TridenX, and TurboJet series are currently the brightest High-Brightness LED lights available from Cygolite, but their output limits are continuously being challenged by our engineers.
Q: Can Cygolite lights be used in the rain?
A: Yes, all Cygolite systems are weather resistant and will work normally in rainy conditions; however, Cygolite lights are not intended to be used under water.
