Fall 2007: New High Brightness LEDs

CygoLite has always been on the forefront of LED technology and this year is no exception, as we have integrated the latest and brightest generation of high-brightness LEDs in our 6 newest lighting systems, the TridenX LED series, DualCross Pro series and Rover II LED series.

Unlike the LEDs used on the older LED systems, these next generation High-Brightness LEDs are 100% brighter at the same power draw so you get brighter light without sacrificing run time.

In comparison to the typical hundred hour life spans of HIDs and halogen bulbs, these LEDs eclipse their lifespan by lasting over 50,000 hours, making bulb replacement a thing of the past.

And as for durability, the compact design and technology behind these LEDs make them more durable and shock resistant than the fragile quartz HID glass and weak filaments of halogen bulbs, so extreme terrain and rough conditions are more than welcome.

Summer 2006: Li-Ion Technology

The latest battery technology in the market today are Li-Ion batteries. Used on cellular phones and laptops, these batteries are characterized by their high energy density and compact shape. CygoLite is integrating these Li-Ion batteries in future lighting systems to offer much lighter and more compact lighting.

Summer 2004: L.E.D. Technology

Over the past 10 years L.E.D. technology has become a promising lighting alternative to standard lighting. Due to their special characteristics, L.E.D.s are very efficient and super compact sources of light, providing longer runtimes and lifespans. The light output has not been bright enough to match the brightness of halogen light however, in the last 5 years L.E.D. technology has advance to the point where it is now bright enough to rival the brightness, runtime, and lifetime of most halogen lights. In fact, the High-Intensity L.E.Ds CygoLite uses today will project super white light bright as a 10 watt halogen bulb and last over 100,000 hours. CygoLite has integrated this new technology in 2004 becoming one of the first bicycle light manufacturers to use this High-Intensity L.E.D. technology for mountain and road biking.

Summer 2002: HID Metal Halide Technology

CygoLite has included High Intensity Discharge (HID) Metal Halide lamps in the product line. The HID lamps produce super bright light, 3-4 times brighter than their halogen equivalent. The light is the same color temperature as sunlight making it much brighter and whiter than conventional halogen systems. These HIDs are extremely efficient, providing hours of ultra-white light for road, mountain and competitive night riding.

Fast & Smart Charging System

The Rapid IQ is a multi-stage fast and smart charging system for high performance lights that use NiMH or NiCad batteries. The Rapid IQ is the charging regulator which automatically runs battery diagnostic mode, rapid charge mode, and trickle charge mode. The Rapid IQ's colored LED will change color to indicate the charging mode. This charging system will replenish batteries in 3-5 hours. The charging systems eliminates overcharging and maximizes the overall performance of the battery.

NiMH Batteries

CygoLite's new NiMH batteries offer better performance and less weight. Weighing in 40% lighter than their NiCad equivalent, these NiMH batteries have higher energy density than NiCad or Gel-Cel batteries and are memory free. They stand at half the size of a water bottle.
